The flagship by Jean Nouvel

The design showroom in Montpellier is the “flagship” of the group.

Designed and envisioned with Jean Nouvel, this 2000 m2 area celebrates, well beyond the design object or furniture, the design culture itself, through a global concept that reflects the democratisation and the ever-increasing obsession of the general public and professionals for a contemporary lifestyle.

A unique place in Europe, which allows you to go from private or professional furniture to the bookstore, the shop which selects each season the best of tableware, decoration, small lights, jewellery, objects connected or for the bathroom, etc.

RBC Montpellier, the temple of design

By day, the building looks like a kind of toolbox or a library descended from the sky on the model of the cult Graduate, designed by Jean Nouvel for Molteni. “Composed of a support plane fixed to the wall in the upper part to which are hung metal uprights with graduated notches at different heights”. “Create, inspire, dream, read, cook, taste, see, dine, light, fit, live” are the verbs displayed on the facade and which illustrate the professions of RBC, an ode to the art of living design on the Mediterranean coast. On the avenue de la Mer side, Jean Nouvel praises the American-style emergency exits which have been transformed into outdoor spaces, ideal for presenting the outdoor furniture collections.

At night, surprising lights with changing colours, signed Yann Kersalé, illuminate the building which is reflected in the water mirror.

Once inside, the lightness and transparency of the different spaces in trays, arranged on either side of a central fault, cause a feeling of levitation. Sensation accentuated by the use of railings made of a stainless steel mesh. The toolbox expands. The grey screen of the facades is discovered openwork and cut in the air. The furniture and objects placed there float a stone’s throw from the ground and take on their full meaning.

“For me, style is an attitude. It is not about appropriating a formal vocabulary and repeating it. It’s a way of taking problems and solving them”, Jean Nouvel.

RBC DESIGN CENTER
CASSINA NQUY

Franck Argentin tells us, "I told myself that the future was here, bringing together several activities in the same place: contemporary furniture, office furniture, kitchen, bookstore, objects, without forgetting our thematic exhibitions which punctuate the life of the showrooms. The art of living according to RBC".

Much more than a furniture store in Montpellier, the place asserts itself as a showroom dedicated to professional and private projects, and has a concept store of 2000 m2 dedicated to accessories, objects and bookstores with more than 4000 references in stock.

RBC Montpellier offers a wide range of leading furniture brands and designers.

Among the brands to be found in this space are the great Italian houses such as Poliform, Cassina, Knoll, Minotti and B&B Italia. Two levels are devoted to Scandinavian brands: &Tradition, Ferm LIving, Verpan, Frandsen, Muuto, Hay, Wendelbo… The signature pieces of Charles & Ray Eames and Prouvé supplied by VItra are also widely represented.

Without forgetting the outdoor furniture collections represented with Fermob, Vlaemynck, Emu, or even Umbrosa, as well as the children’s universe with Oliver Furniture, Charlie Crane, or even Nobodinoz.

As a kitchen designer, we offer tailor-made kitchen solutions with the Poliform brand.
